ShutterCount App Reviews
After going through countless useless posts at work on my Windows PC I get home and find this app that actually does what it says it does. I connected my 70D to my Mac and the app instantly shows the camera’s serial and model along with the shutter count. No thanks to Canon and the tools out there who produce useless alternatives.
I am impressed after tinkering with a lot of software and few hours later came across this software and decided to spend the $4 Canadian :) Connected my 6D and voila ! It read teh shutter count on my 6D with no issues what so ever. I am so glad that now i dont have to bother with any other software. Other good thing I liked was it also keeps a history of shutter count check as to when you did the last one so this also tracks your camera usage indirectly. Great buy and higly recommended. Also check “More info” it lists all the cameras that its able to read so you can be sure before spending money. Thanks to the developer and keep up the good work :) -Hetal from Canada.
Simple and Successful
Really simple and successful app. It works.
Support
Please integrate support for the Eos 1D MArk IV. Thank you
Great and effective, yet simple app to check the actual camera’s shutter count. It worked flawlessly on my EOS 5D Mk II, giving me the shutter counter info I wasn’t able to get otherwise.
Works with my EOS-6D
Very good program, it works perfectly with my Canon EOS-6D!
It works
Please, add support for canon eos 450D also.
This app saved me 3000$ from getting used Mark 5d iii with some huge shutter count (owner told me it was 10k and it turned out to be 67k) and also serial number was wrong on the body and in software, so it was smuggled thing. Works great and simple. Just start it and plug in camera. You all done to get real info. Thank you developers for such helper and saver !
Perfect Little Tool
This thing is simple and works. No bells and whistles…just exactly what you want it to do. Thanks!
I was reluctant to PAY for such a simple thing…until I tried to get the shutter count another way. I tried Canon’s EOS Utility and neither the CD version the update I downloaded from their site included this capability — on either the Windows version or Mac version. I tried a product called EOSInfo, on a PC, and got nothing; I tried a product called 40DShutterCount, on a Mac, and got nothing. The only thing I didn’t try was a product that requires Xcode, “homebrew”, and using Terminal - I didn’t want to go through all that and risk yet another failure. So FINALLY I caved in, paid for this, and INSTANT SUCCESS! It shows the full camera model (“Canon EOS REBEL T5i” for example), the full serial number matching what is on the bottom of the camera, the shutter count, and if you’ve assigned an owner name (in EOS Utility for example) then it’ll display that too. In my case I wanted this info to sell an older camera, and with one simple Command-Shift-4 screenshot I’ve got what I need!
Works great with my 6D
Painless, quick way to read EOS shutter count on the Mac. Works great!!
Works as advertised. Could be better if it works on older Canon cameras, like the 40D, 30D, 20D. Though we have new cameras, it would be cool to know how many shutter actuations we have accumulated with the older but still very well functioning models.
Usefull tool
Great tool if you are in the market for a used Canon body that this app is designed for. 184,000 clicks on my own 7d….yikes!!
Great App!
On one of the webpage you need to pay per read, thus I decided to purchase this app, great, and I can use it later on.
I bought a used 7D in Dec 2012. At the time the PO said he thought he had between 6-7k shots through the camera. I bought this program to see if that number seemed realistic. (When you buy something from Craigslist you never know). Well, it currently shows 10,330. Based on the approximate number of shots Ive made since I bought the camera, Id say the guy was being truthful - about 6-7k shots when I bought the camera. Ive put between 3-4k shots on teh camera. Makes me feel good about the purchase. This isnt an app Ill use often, but it will be nice to check once a year or so to see where were at.
Just great
Just love it , great so easy to use.
Excellent Simple App
This is the best way to know the “age” of a camera, especially if you’re buying a used camera like I just did. Fantastic! Well worth the money.
I just bought this to check the shutter count on a refurbished Canon 6D and it worked great! Connected my camera, quit EOS Utility (which auto-launches), launched ShutterCount and it immediately recognized the camera and showed the shutter count. I also tested it with my old T3i and that worked as well. The *only* nitpick I have is I wish you could choose where to store the .csv files. Great app overall!
Worked great on my Canon 5Diii. Good to know where I stand. At 134,625 actuations, I’m getting close to the expected 150k… that’s great info for a pro to know. Wish it also worked on my 1Diii (listed not supported & I tested it). You can google your camera and ‘actuations’ to see what Canon says about your shutter’s expected life. The app worked easily and gives a clean report that you can copy or send out in various ways to keep track of or share.
Instantly gave me my shutter count and think it’s neat that it write a .csv file so you can view your camera’s history and then chart it in a spreadsheet.
